Research
The Maverick Institutes conducts at least one major research project each year. Our research projects tend to address areas where operations and execution excellence can make a large impact on industry growth, economies, quality of life and workplace issues.
See below for a brief description of our most recent research project, “Assessing IT Innovation and Productivity in Colorado.” We plan to launch this project in June 2007, and will be updating this page frequently after the project launch.
If you would like more information about this project, or would like to participate in any way, please call Todd Hudson at 303.819.6662.
Assessing IT Innovation and Productivity in Colorado
In February 2007, the Brookings Institution released a study entitled “The Implications of Service Offshoring for Metropolitan Economies.” In its findings, the report stated that “little is currently known about systematic ways of improving service sector productivity.” Which leaves service company leaders with the impression that there is little they can do to prevent offshoring except to support the report’s government policy recommendations.
Respectfully, we disagree. There are myriad ways to systematically improve service company productivity. But we wonder…are IT service companies in Colorado (named in the study as an area to be hard-hit by service offshoring) using these methods? And if so, are they getting the results they should be? Can more be done to make Colorado IT service jobs competitive enough to prevent offshoring?
The Maverick Institute will launch a study in June to find the answers to these questions. Check back here to learn more about the study. We encourage involvement.
